The Total Cost of Ownership Calculator
Color depth is an important factor in reducing visible soil. Select the gray-tone color depth of the carpets you would like to compare below.
The pattern of the carpet plays a major role in hiding soil. Choose the pattern that best describes your carpet of Antron® fiber as well as your alternate specification.
The texture of a carpet can affect how well it resists matting and crushing and when paired with soiling can cause “uglting-out” of the carpet. Choose the texture that best matches your carpet of Antron® fiber and your alternative specification.
Fiber can affect how a carpet resists soiling and staining, how much it costs to maintain, and how long it retains its original appearance. Choose the fiber that is used for your carpet of Antron® fiber and your alternative specification.
Now it’s time to input your specific maintenance information. Fill in the requested information below. Use your local currency, entering only numbers.
Using data based on the carpet selections you have made for the two products you wish to compare, the model-calculates the number of cleanings that may be required over the period you hope to have the carpet installed. This will enable you to identify your true cost of ownership.$Sq. Yd.$Sq. Yd.
Enter values less than $1.00 as a decimal (Example: 0.25)$Sq. Ft.
These results show the number of cleanings that would be required to maintain the Carpet of Antron® fiber and the Alternative Carpet at roughly the same level of appearance. It is meant to show the relative performance of the two products only and not to be employed as a detailed maintenance plan.
The following calculations are estimates of cleaning and maintenance only. They do not include other potential costs such as:
- Premature replacement
- Business interruption
- Other costs associated with a carpet failure

Cleaning Over Time
Antron® fiber is 100% Nylon 6,6 and features innovative hollow filament fiber structures, small surface areas, and DuraTech® soil resistance treatment. These qualities help maintain appearance making cleaning easier.
The type 6,6 nylon polymer, hollow filament fiber shape technology and DuraTech® soil resistance treatment of Antron® nylon are a powerful combination for keeping carpet looking newer longer.
Total Cost of Ownership
Maintenance costs can often be significantly higher than initial costs and should be carefully considered when evaluating carpet alternatives.
This chart shows a plot of Delta-E, a measure of carpet color change from a new carpet. The TCO calculator** model predicts a change in Delta-E with time due to soiling, to carpet type, and to carpet color/pattern. The Delta-E data used to generate the TCO model was measured by a portable colorimeter. More than 500 test carpets installed at a real-world commercial facility with heavy soiling and foot traffics were measured over time.
The results above illustrate the difference in cleanings required to maintain the selected carpets at roughly the same level of appearance based on this Delta E data.
