It's time to rethink how we define sustainability.
The First Life™ of a carpet of Antron® fiber can last up to 75% longer than the majority of competitive carpets.*
INVISTA, the makers of Antron® fiber, seeks a more comprehensive understanding of a product’s effect on our lives and the environment. First Life™ is defined as the time frame from when a new carpet is installed until it needs to be removed due to unacceptable appearance and/or performance. This approach supports existing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) models but expands upon them to incorporate performance testing, customer use and maintenance through the first use of the product.
A longer product life, or its FirstLife™, can play a significant role in reducing environmental affect by reducing premature consumption of resources and eliminating processes over time. By decreasing the amount of replacement due to wear and tear and loss of aesthetics, carpets manufactured with Antron® fiber can achieve up to 38 percent lower energy consumption and up to 42 percent lower greenhouse gas emissions (expressed as CO2 equivalents) than the majority of competitive carpets.*
Each time you specify or purchase products using Antron® nylon, you can do so with confidence, knowing that when you specify a carpet of Antron® fiber, you’ve specified a carpet that will last. At INVISTA, we believe that, when it comes to carpet, Sustainability Begins with Products that Last™.
*Results based on testing a representative sample of carpets of comparable construction, style and color.
