Third Party Certification
To help you navigate environmental product claims with confidence, there is an independent, third-party certification for Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP). Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), a reputable third-party organization evaluated Antron® carpet fiber and certified that it met EPP criteria.
Antron® Lumena™ and Antron® Legacy™ fibers are the first carpet fibers to have earned the Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) designation and the only carpet fibers to have been recertified multiple times. Established by Executive Order 13101 (replaced by EO 13423) and certified by Scientific Certification Systems, EPP certification identifies products as having a lesser or reduced effect on health and the environment when compared with competing products that serve the same purpose. Antron® Lumena™, Antron® Legacy™ and Antron® Brilliance™ nylon fibers are currently EPP certified.
And now, the standard is tougher than ever. SCS modified its EPP certification requirements to reflect the latest in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methods and provide a more comprehensive evaluation of environmental impacts. To certify carpet fibers as Environmentally Preferable Products, LCAs of the products as well as a composite baseline representing the entire carpet fiber market were performed and combined with carpet performance data. The certification standard examines the carpet material's entire life cycle and requires the certified products to demonstrate improvements over the baseline in environmental impact categories.
