Texture Retention

Apples to Apples

The INVISTA type 6,6 nylon polymer along with the exclusive hollow filament shape of Antron® provide superior resistance to crushing, matting and abrasive wear versus a mill extruded, type 6 nylon fiber.

Type 6 nylon fiber with a trilobal shape   Repeated traffic has caused permanent damage to the trilobal fiber
This is a mill-extruded type 6 nylon fiber with a trilobal shape. The long lobes of the trilobal are more likely to break prematurely under foot traffic. This causes permanent crushing and matting resulting in poor carpet appearance.   Actual floor tests show that repeated traffic has caused permanent damage to the trilobal fiber with cracks, tears and overall fiber degradation.
Antron® nylon fiber shape   Antron® nylon is not damaged during actual floor tests
This is an Antron® nylon fiber shape. The uniform outer surface provides superior resistance to crushing and matting and abrasive wear.   Antron® nylon is not damaged during actual floor tests. Increased resistance to crushing and matting means that a carpet will have superior texture retention over the life of the carpet.
